In 2022, heat pumps accounted for 26% of the business

GERMANY: A new recent survey of German plumbing, heating and air conditioning installers has shown that heat pumps will account for around 26% of their business in 2022.

A study by Bonn-based market operator EUPD Research of 351 German installers confirms that heat pumps, especially air-to-water heat pumps, are playing an increasingly important role in installers' portfolios.

After record sales in 2022, 91,500 heat pumps for heating were sold in the first quarter of this year, which is 110% more than in the same period last year.

Connecting a heat pump to a photovoltaic system was considered in 37% of installations as a new installation or as a connection of a new heat pump to an existing photovoltaic system. Despite the obvious benefits of combining these technologies, installing both together at the same time can be a challenge for installation operators, as there are reportedly too many manufacturers with different incompatible systems.
